World Ocean Day – June 8th

By Anna F-S.

No matter where you live the oceans have a big influence on you and our whole world! For example, did you know that marine plants produce about seventy-five percent of the oxygen we breathe? This Sunday, June 8th is your chance to show your appreciation by donating an hour of your time to help the oceans. Here’s what we are asking: choose a local piece of land, it could be a stretch of beach that has direct impact on the ocean. Even cleaning up a sidewalk in Iowa where trash and other pollutants could be drawn out to the oceans through rivers and streams helps our oceans. Please spend an hour or more giving back by picking up trash. Be sure to pledge your hour at https://www.facebook.com/events/761291420570204/, and share your stories and photos with us!

Please come out and celebrate world ocean day with members of the campaign Puget Sound: We Love You in a local clean up at Alki Beach between 9am-11am on Sunday, June 8th. We will be meeting at the Alki statue of Liberty Plaza at 9am. If you are unable to meet at 9am please don’t hesitate to show up later. An hour is all we are asking!

Address: 1702 Alki Ave SW, 98116

See you on Sunday!
